गर्मी का दिन था। एक प्यासा कौआ पानी की तलाश में एक गाँव में उड़ गया। कौवा घरों, खेतों और पेड़ों पर उड़ गया। लेकिन उसे पानी नहीं मिला। काफी देर बाद वह एक खेत के पास आया। खेत के एक पेड़ के नीचे पानी का घड़ा था।
खुशी है कि उसे अंत में कुछ पानी मिला, वह झपट्टा मारकर पेड़ के पास गया और फिर जमीन पर गिर गया। वह जल्दी से घड़े की तरफ बढ़ा और अंदर देखा। मटके में बहुत कम पानी था। कौवे ने अपनी चोंच घड़े के अंदर डाली लेकिन पानी तक नहीं पहुंच सका। पानी का स्तर बहुत कम था, और संकीर्ण उद्घाटन ने उसकी गर्दन को पूरी तरह से नीचे जाने से रोक दिया।

It was a hot summer’s day. A thirsty crow flew into a village in search of water. The crow flew over the homes, fields, and trees. But he didn’t find any water.
After a protracted time, he stumbled on a farm. Under one in all the trees on the farm was a pitcher of water.
Happy that he found some water finally, he swooped right {down to|all the way down to} the tree so down to the bottom. He quickly moved towards the pitcher and looked inside. There was little water within the pot.
The crow put his beak inside the pitcher but couldn’t reach the water. The water level was too low, and also the narrow opening prevented his neck from going all the way down.

He tried to push the vessel right down to let the water out, but it absolutely was too heavy. The crow was disappointed. He was really thirsty and needed a drink of water badly. He could have given up and flown to a different farm, searching for water.
But he didn’t. Instead, he looked around and thought, “What else am i able to do?” He saw that there have been lots of pebbles on the farm. And, he had an idea! He collected a pebble and put it into the pitcher.
He collected another pebble and another and put all within the pitcher. As he added more and more stones, the water level came up to the brim.
The crow drank the water and flew back home happily!
