ज्येष्ठ मास हिन्दी कैलेंडर का तीसरा महीना होता है। आमतौर पर इस महीने सूर्य वृष और मिथुन राशि में रहता है। जिससे इन दिनों में ग्रीष्म ऋतु रहती है। इस महीने के शुरूआती 15 दिनों बाद शनि जयंती पर्व होता है। इस हिंदी महीने के दौरान सूर्य रोहिणी नक्षत्र में रहता है। तब नौ दिनों तब तेज गर्मी रहती है। इसी काल को नौतपा कहते हैं। उत्तरायण.के बाद पांचवा महीना होने से ये देवताओं के दिन का समय रहता है। ज्येष्ठ मास में ही शनिदेव का जन्म हुआ था और हनुमानजी को भी ये महीना बहुत प्रिय है।
पुरी के ज्योतिषाचार्य डॉ.गणेश मिश्र बताते हैं वो चार वजह जिससे खास है ज्येष्ठ मास :
ज्येष्ठ महीना देवताओं का दिन
मकर संक्रांति पर सूर्य उत्तरायण होता है। उसके पांच महीने बाद उत्तरायण सूर्य का आखिरी समय यानी उत्तरकाल होता है। जो कि ज्येष्ठ महीने के समय रहता है। इसे देवताओं का दिन माना जाता है। इसलिए इन दिनों में किए गए दान और शुभ कामों का कई गुना पुण्य मिलता है। इस महीने गभस्तिक रूप में भगवान सूर्य की पूजा करने से दरिद्रता और हर तरह के दोष दूर हो जाते हैं। बीमारियां दूर होती है और उम्र भी बढ़ती है।
हनुमान उपासना का महीना ज्येष्ठ
इस हिंदी महीने के स्वामी मंगल देव है इसलिए इस महीने में आने वाले हर मंगलवार को बहुत खास मन जाता है। जिसे बाद मंगल कहते हैं। हनुमान जी का प्रिय महीना होने से ज्येष्ठ मास में आने वाले मंगलवार को व्रत रखकर उनकी विशेष पूजा करने की परंपरा है।
ग्रंथों में इस बात का जिक्र है कि भगवान राम और हनुमानजी की पहली मुलाकात भी ज्येष्ठ महीने में ही हुई थी। वही, तेलगु कैलेंडर के मुताबिक इस महीने के कृष्ण पक्ष की दशमी पर हनुमान जयंती मनाई जाती है।
शनि देव का जन्म पर्व
ग्रंथों के मुताबिक ज्येष्ठ महीने की अमावस्या तिथि को भगवान शनि देव का जन्म हुआ था। इसलिए इस दिन शनि जयंती मनाई जाती है। जो कि इस बार 30 मई,
सोमवार को है। इस पर्व पर न्याय के देवता शनि महाराज की पूजा करने से दोष दूर हो जाते हैं। जिन लोगों पर साढेसाती और शनि की ढय्या है। उनके लिए ये दिन बहुत खास होता है। इस दिन शनि देव से जुड़ी चीजों का दान करने पर परेशानियों से राहत मिलती है।
पानी की अहमियत समझाने वाले व्रत
इस महीने की अमावस्या और पूर्णिमा पर वट सावित्री व्रत किया जाता है। महिलाएं बिना।पानी पिए व्रत रखती हैं। शुक्ल पक्ष की दशमी पर गंगा अवतरण दिवस पर गंगाजल की विशेष पूजा होती है। अगले दिन एकादशी पर बिना पानी पिए व्रत रखा जाता है। जिसे निर्जला एकादशी कहते हैं। वहीं, पूरे महीने जलदान करने की भी परंपरा है। इस दान से कई यज्ञ करने जितना पुण्य फल मिलता है।

Then it is hot for nine days. This period is called Nautapa. Since it is the fifth month after Uttarayan, it is the time of the day of the deities. Shani Dev was born in Jyestha month itself and this month is also very dear to Hanumanji.

Eldest Month God’s Day
The Sun turns Uttarayan on Makar Sankranti. After five months, Uttarayan is the last time of the Sun i.e. Uttarkaal. Which is in the month of Jyeshtha. It is considered as the day of the gods.
Therefore, the charity and auspicious works done in these days are rewarded manifold. Poverty and all kinds of defects are removed by worshiping Lord Surya in a pregnant form this month. diseases away and age also increases.
Month Of Worship Of Hanuman Eldest
The lord of this Hindi month is Mangal Dev, so every Tuesday coming in this month is considered very special. Which is later called Mangal. Being the favorite month of Hanuman ji, there is a tradition of special worship of Hanuman ji by fasting on the coming Tuesday in the month of Jyestha.
It is mentioned in the texts that the first meeting of Lord Rama and Hanumanji also took place in the month of Jyeshtha. The same, according to the Telugu calendar, Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated on the tenth day of Krishna Paksha of this month.
Birthday Of Shani Dev
According to the scriptures, Lord Shani Dev was born on the new moon day of Jyeshtha month. That is why Shani Jayanti is celebrated on this day. Which this time on 30th May, It’s on Monday. Worshiping Shani Maharaj, the god of justice on this festival, removes the defects. People on whom Sadhesati and Shani are in the shadow. This day is very special for them. Donating things related to Shani Dev on this day gives relief from troubles.

Vat Savitri fast is observed on the new moon and full moon of this month. Women keep fast without drinking water. On the tenth day of Shukla Paksha, special worship of Gangajal is done on Ganga Avtaran Diwas. The next day on Ekadashi, fast is kept without drinking water. Which is called Nirjala Ekadashi. At the same time, there is a tradition of donating water throughout the month. By this donation one gets virtuous fruit as much as performing many yagyas.
